If your goal is to get away from it all then this is the place for you. Twelve wooded acres shelters this picturesque log home situated on a hillside with a sunset view. There is a winding path to Mitchell Lake, dock and the adjoining sandy beach area. You’ll have all the peace and quiet you want and still be just a short drive from restaurants, golf courses and shopping in the towns of Emily and Crosslake.

My first visit to Loon Lodge was an enchanting January afternoon. When I walked into the pine paneled living room and saw the fieldstone fireplace, adorned with a tasteful display of Christmas decoration, I thought, “What a wonderful place to be during the holidays.” I am pleased to let you know that this home is available for rentals year round.

The screened-in porch provides a delightful area for meals or games or cards. And when the weather allows meals can also be enjoyed at the patio set on the lakeside deck - a wonderful place to do a little bird watching.

Two bedrooms and a three-quarter bathroom with a stacked washer/dryer, all on the main level, creates convenient one-floor living. One of the bedrooms has a queen sized bed and the other bedroom has a full sized bunk bed.

The lower level, which is accessible only from an outside entry, has a living area with a full size futon sleeper and an all-in-one kitchenette unit. The bedroom is furnished with a full size bed. A three-quarter bath is also on the lower level. This arrangement provides privacy for friends and family.

The owner also has a lower level suite in his own home that he will provide as additional accommodations with the lodge rental. This guest suite has a private entrance and consists of a queen sized bed, a private bathroom and cable TV. Alternatively it could be rented from the owner as a B & B experience.

I will definitely enjoy my first cup of coffee on deck listening for the early morning call of the loons.
