    • Just a few miles north of Outing, Minnesota is this peaceful home with many wonderful features. A tree-lined drive led me to this tidy half log home, nestled among mature pines and scattered birch trees. A screen porch, panoramic views, floor to ceiling knotty pine paneling, and a warm mix of new and antique furniture all come together to create the perfect get-a-way. Once you see the photos, you'll want to reserve this lake home for your next "up north" vacation.

    The combined living area on the main floor features fabulous picture windows which bring the outdoors inside. Whether you’re sitting at the kitchen counter, nestled on the comfy sofa, or rocking in one of the handcrafted rockers, you will have a great view. With the large open kitchen it is very easy for the cook to chat with family and friends while preparing the catch of the day. Should the weather turn chilly the fieldstone fireplace will help warm you up. A small nook is set up for television viewing or day-dreaming in the window seat. The screen porch gives you a second dining location.

    There are two bedrooms on the main floor. One has a full sized antique bedroom set while the other is all set for the kids. This bedroom has two sets of bunk beds, enough for your kids, grandchildren and a friend or two of theirs. A full bathroom and the laundry room complete the main floor.

    The loft is a great place to take that book you’ve been meaning to read. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a great window seat and a master bathroom.

    Tweny-three winding steps lead to the lake, dock and lakeshore. The water is clear and the swimming off the dock is hard to beat.

    My first cup of coffee will be at the kitchen counter, hoping for a hermit thrush, or bald eagle will swoop by.

    Otter Run is available for rentals year round. In the summer, enjoy the nearby golf courses; in winter, come experience the nearby cross-country ski trails.
